Welcome to my little corner of the internet, where chaos meets creativity and the past intertwines with the present. I’m a retired mental health professional with years of experience that shape my views on life. With a wealth of knowledge about violence and its prevention, I’ve witnessed the impact of mental health struggles up close. Most notably, I’ve survived the trials of having a psychopathic parent and navigating the complex world of ADHD.

This blog, Dystopian Time Capsule, serves as my creative outlet—a way to transform boredom and existential challenges into a canvas for sharing thoughts on crime, history, and the quirky aspects of life.
Embracing the Past: The Value of History
History is not just a time capsule filled with dates and events; it’s a collection of stories waiting to be told. By honoring antique treasures like a 19th-century pocket watch or a faded letter, we tap into the resilience and heartbreak that shaped lives before ours. For instance, did you know that the Great Depression saw unemployment rates soar to nearly 25% in the United States? Such events offer us insights into human behavior during times of hardship.
Appreciating history allows us to reflect on the factors that lead to crime and violence. An old, worn photograph can draw us in, urging us to consider the struggles and triumphs of those who lived through it. Such reflections can guide us in understanding our own society and possibly preventing future atrocities.
The Art of Preservation
In an age dominated by digital screens, traditional writing and paper preservation are becoming lost arts. Engaging with these crafts is more than just nostalgia; it helps keep our minds active. My passion for papercrafting is not just about creating art; it’s about preserving memories for future generations.
There's an undeniable comfort in the smell of aging books and the feel of well-loved papers. When I craft using these materials, I slow down, reflect, and connect with my thoughts in a tangible way. Each flaw—a tear or a stain—adds character and tells a story of its own.
A Journey Through Mental Health
Living with ADHD often feels like navigating a maze filled with distractions. Yet, with time, I have come to appreciate how my brain functions differently. My experiences as a mental health professional have highlighted the importance of understanding our mental health narratives and how they impact our interactions.
Surviving a psychopathic parent also taught me about the darker sides of family dynamics. This journey, while complex, has nurtured a deep sense of empathy and understanding for those grappling with their own challenges. The statistics are alarming: 1 in 25 adults in the U.S. experiences severe mental illness in a given year. Understanding these struggles can foster connection and healing.
From Chaos to Creativity: Enter Snark Art
A unique aspect of my blog is the concept of “snark art.” This creative outlet emerged from a blend of frustration and humor. It allows me to transform chaotic thoughts into something visually captivating and, at times, confrontational.
Snark art lets me poke fun at societal norms, all while examining deeper issues surrounding mental health. Creativity can become a valuable coping mechanism for those of us often on the fringes of conventional narratives. For example, a piece inspired by my chaotic experiences might contrast a bright, playful color palette with heavy, dark imagery, inviting viewers to explore their interpretations.
Intersections of Crime, Science, and Culture
There is a compelling connection between crime, science, and culture that warrants exploration. My background in mental health gives me insights into the psychological motivations behind criminal behavior. Understanding the 'why' is crucial for prevention.
Through my posts, whether tracing the history of a notorious crime or delving into scientific theories behind behavior, my intention is to spark dialogue. Engaging with these topics goes beyond academics; it’s about raising awareness and fostering curiosity. For instance, studies show that nearly 70% of incarcerated individuals have a mental health disorder. By discussing these intersections, we can work toward more effective solutions.
A New Perspective on Chaos
Dystopian Time Capsule is my creative project, born from the need for understanding and knowledge. As I navigate the complexities of life as a retired mental health professional, I invite you to join me. My writings aim to invite curiosity and challenge traditional views on history, art, and mental health.
Acknowledgment of our past, preservation of our stories, and the embrace of creativity are the threads that weave our collective consciousness together. Whether you're drawn to tales of antique treasures, exploring the nuances of crime and science, or enjoying a touch of snark art, there is something for everyone in this chaotic yet beautiful tapestry of life.
Together, let’s explore the layers of humanity, creativity, and the enduring quest for understanding. Thank you for being part of this journey!
